Basford once again shuffled the pack and gave debuts to new signings Max Foster, Greg Moulopoulos and Ewan Hill, whilst Sam Parker continued his from long term injury.

Basford started off the better side however Ruddington village who looked dangerous going forward through Fraser Brownlie-Cannon.

Basford deservedly took the lead after 25 minutes when Alex Goodall fired his first of three home from 25 yards out. With Goodall and new signing Ewan Hill starting to show signs of a blossoming partnership new boys Max Foster and Greg Moulopoulos were settling on very well with both looking very good in possession.

Unfortunately with a minute to go until half time Basford conceded a very soft goal when a long ball wasn't dealt with at the back leading to a mix up between defender and keeper which allowed Brownlie-Cannon to score his easiest goal of the season and level the scores.

Half time appeared not to help Basford as they found themselves behind with 5 minutes gone when a ball into the box wasn't dealt with and Ryan Pearsonr scored Ruddingtons second.

On 55 minutes Basford were back on level terms when Raheem Sunmonu headed home a Jamie Marks corner.

Just after the hour mark Basford made changes with Ben Johnson and Joe Wroughton entering the fray which freshened up the Basford attack and within 5 minutes Basford were ahead when Goodall scored his second.

Basford scored a 4th through a clever Ben Johnson free kick on 75 minutes and the game was wrapped up on 80 minutes when an excellent team goal involving a number of passes found Ewan Hill inside the box to roll the ball across to Goodall who tapped home for his hat trick and Basford's 5th. There were still chances late on for Hill to mark an excellent debut with a goal but it wasn't to be for the 16 year old striker.

Basford goalkeeper Luca Wagstaff also showed some excellent handling to keep Ruddington at bay and although Ruddington Village continued to pose questions of the Basford back line of Foster and Jalland stayed stayed strong lead by the excellent Louis Tomlinson.

Basford were also able to give valuable minutes to the excellent Sam Parker who continues to his recovery from injury to cap a fine day.

Finally a huge thanks to all the loyal Basford United fans who turned out to support the young squad with no first game this weekend. It was very much appreciated.

Basford United U15 4 Keyworth United 3

With much at stake and the possibility of going top of the table for the first time this season, and with only four games left to play all be it all away, it was imperative for the team to start the game well.

On a poor pitch they did precisely the opposite going three goals down in the first 15 mins. Basford did have a couple of opportunities but the woodwork denied a great 25 yard effort from Liam Sansum.

Half time could not come quick enough for the team to regroup.

Basford started the second half on the front foot, a complete change from the first half and scored through Max Wallace within five minutes to give them some hope.

They then made personnel changes after 20 minutes with Angelo Tambini coming back on and making his mark. This worked well allowing Max Wallace to score again, to give us more hope more changes were made and Decree Okoli scored from close range following a corner.

This led to a tense final 10 minutes. With the pressure building on the opposition and corner after corner which finally led to McKenzie Elliot firing in a late winner.

This proved to be the winner but not without a final piece of drama. A Keyworth breakaway required a stunning close save from Ryan Lloyd.

A very tense game and one of two halves but the test of character and the desire to win and not give up showed through, which should hold the team in good stead for the run in.

The home team coach referred the game which didn't help things but the Basford lads played well with Finley Wright scoring his first goal for the club after joining us after Christmas and a brilliant goal and man of the match performance from Joseph Rowlett-Franks.

Basford United Under 7s 11 Eastwood 5

Basford U7s played up a year against Eastwood U8s and straight from the start put them on the back foot passing around them.
Within two minutes of the start Alfie scored into the bottom corner. With Basford dominating the game a free kick from half way line and Remea got on the end of it putting the ball into the top corner, a quality finish.
Devon came on as substitute, scoring with his first touch, then quickly added his second into the middle of the net.
Joe after scoring a hat trick last week, followed up with five this week, also the rock at the back was Preston.
Man of the match was Oscar with some outstanding saves.
