Described by one member of the coaching team as “without doubt the worst preparation to any game I've ever been involved in.... “

The match against Awsworth Villa Reserves was reversed to play at Greenwich Avenue with Community being the away team and due to a mix up the 1st team took Community kit with them leaving the team scrambling for a kit 60 minutes before kick off.
Then add in the opponents wouldn't play on our 3G pitch as they usually play on grass so as the home side they chose Pitch 2, both teams set up to warm up and the opposition manager then decided they will now play on the 3G!

For a team who prides itself on planning and preparation, plotting every minute down from 90 minutes prior to kick off we suddenly found ourselves way short of time to get the finer details across to the players,

This was evident for the opening 20 minutes of the game with us all over the place and going 1-0 down inside 15 minutes. Credit to the lads, this acted as a wake up call we needed and after some neat wing play from Louis Tomlinson he found Alex Goodall inside the box who dropped a shoulder and bent the ball delightfully into the top corner nothing his 17th goal of the season leaving the keeper no chance, this was quickly followed by Tomlinson capitalizing on a fumble from the keeper and tapping home inside the 6 yard box (2-1 up HT)

An enforced change at half time saw Jamie Mark after taking a knock replaced by the returning Corey Jalland.

The half time was message was clear maintain a high tempo and move the ball quickly and we felt we would push on to win the game, we also warned them that Awsworth would come out strong and look to get back on level terms as soon as possible, a combination of a defensive mix up and a cool finish and they did just that 2-2.

For a 20 minute period of the second half both teams were guilty of wasting good possession until on 70 minutes Awsworth caught us on the break with another clinical finish: 3-2 down.

We were confident if we could regain our composure and maintain possession of the ball we would create more chances and shuffled the pack slightly and our shape to 4-3-3, Dominik Walkus coming on for Victor Lusuku and 16 year old Ethan Lamb replacing Joe Wroughton.

We mounted a series of attacks in the final 15 minutes and then our very own Duracell bunny Blake Cooke came up with the goods firing us level from just inside the box. It's safe to then say we got the bit between our teeth and wouldn't settle for anything less than the 3 points.

If ever a passage of play summed up our youthful squad up it was this. Isaac Weatherall (aged 16) making his debut received the ball from keeper Luca and drove into our opponents half before finding Ewan Hill (aged 16) who neatly turned side stepping two challenges and fed the ball into Ethan Lamb (also 16) with his back to goal on the right hand side of the box holding off his defender, he played the ball back into Issac who sent a delightful ball into the box which was finished off by an exquisite half volley by Ethan Lamb. A goal of the highest standard made even better by the build-up play.

Then in the last five minutes and not to be out done by his fellow 16 year olds our very own gentle giant Harvi Weatherall scored a towering header for the second game running putting the game to bed.

No less than three 16 year olds in the starting eleven and we finished the game with four of them, we are blessed to have such an exciting crop of youngsters to choose from with an average squad age of 17.5 years.

Credit to each and everyone involved with all the pre-match chaos they delivered us the 3 points with 5 games remaining.

After securing a spot in the final of the cup last week we faced Robin Hood Colts in the league today. We started well with George, Orlando, Bright, Mckenzie and Kesharn being solid at the back and building attacks.

After 10 minutes, Oyin worked hard down the right to win a corner. Tyrelle swung a superb delivery in at the near post which Kacper tucked away for 1-0.

Our central midfielders Michael, Kacper & Riley were all strong in the midfield winning their individual battles. The front three of Oyin, Tyrelle and Jayden-Samuel all worked extremely hard and the wingers created lots of chances from out wide.

Not long before half time Tyrelle found himself in space on the edge of the box, drilled a shot low under the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

The subs played their part too, Jepthe, Jack, JD and Faris all doing well.

Second half began and Robin Hood were on top, we defended well but after 50 minutes they managed to get one back to make it 2-1.

Trees took back control, a great driving run from Kacper lead to him flicking it inside to Faris who went passed his man and lobbed the keeper to make it 3-1.

Near the end Kacper nearly got his 3rd goal in 2 games when he hit the bar.

Man of the match today had to be Kacper who dominated play in the midfield.

The highest finish possible is 2nd place in the league, the team have won the last 6 in a row. Great form this year.

It has been confirmed the Cup Final will be Saturday 18 May at Rolls Royce, Hucknall.

The last game of the season couldn’t have gone any better for the Magpies. The lads came out and played with such energy and enthusiasm like it was the start of the season.

Some superb passing and shooting saw us up by 7 goals at half time and by the end of the hours play we scored 17. An error from a lapse in concentration by the defence allowed the visitors to score a goal.

Goals by Reece2, Elijah 4, Ricky 5, Dede 1, Tieron 1, Joseph 3 and an own goal.
