Basford United Veterans continued their unbeaten run with a 7-1 win at Selston.
The Vets travelled to newly promoted Selston who are a very good outfit and a beautiful set up. Rob Gill scored his first for the club with a stunning first time volley to take Basford 1-0 up but Selston have very good mobile forwards and they deservedly equalised.
The second half saw charges to the formation and this quickly showed the quality of the squad, goals in the second half saw Rob Gill score his hat trick and a second half sub Lee Mainwaring score two quick goals. Further goals from Tris Whitman and Nigel Beer gave Basford a healthy 7-1 win.
Despite a Callum Leach wonder free kick on his debut a young Basford United Community side went down 5-1 at Greenwich Avenue to title favourites Woodthorpe Park Rangers.
Basford were excellent for the first 20 minutes creating good chances for Leach and Richardson, but the game turned on 25 minute as Woodthorpe’s physicality increased and Basford dropped deeper and deeper inviting Woodthorpe forward leading to them taking the lead on the half hour mark.
The lads stood strong and went in one down at half time.
Credit to this young team as they came out fighting and Callum Leach levelled the game after 55 minutes with a wonder left footed free kick from 30 yards out which deceived everyone.
Unfortunately two quick goals on the hour mark turned the game and Woodthorpe finished strongly adding two more goals although Basford hit the post through Richardson and the bar from Marks.
With the average age of the side just 18 years old and Khayden Ellis 16 making his debut there were lots of positives from this young side as they continue their development in senior football.
Basford U18 Black fell to a 5-3 defeat against a well organised Mansfield Town team.
Basford finally got a game on after a few weeks off with a few more new faces.
The game was a very even contest with both sides creating chances, with Basford getting the first with a fantastic passage of play which Chris Neilson slotted home from the edge of the area.
Mansfield drew level after hitting the target from a fine strike from a free kick from 25 yards.
Basford continued to create and went in front just before half time after fine work from Ramarni Burgher on the left hand side and driving a lovely ball across the box with the Mansfield defender unable to do anything , apart from it hitting the net.
Basford hit again 10 min into the second half with Joshua Nwokord getting a well deserved goal after some fantastic work leading the front line.
Mansfield got two quick goals back after Basford made a couple of mistakes in dangerous areas. Either team could of won the game at this time with chances still being created but it was Mansfield who got their noses in front for the first time in the game and with Basford pressing for an equaliser allowed Mansfield to seal the victory.
Basford United U18s (Sat) won 8-0 at Beeston Park Rangers
Seven wins from seven games is a clear indication of the team’s ambition this season .
They led at half-time from goals Beau Elliott and a rocket from 20 yards by Kasim Latif. After the break the carefree passing by the away side saw Beeston struggle to get anything going for themselves. Further second half goals saw Basford go into a hard earned 1week break still unbeaten with maximum points
Goalscorers: Beau Elliott, Kasim Latif 3 each, Jise Bankole and Kiran Duncan 1
Man of the Match.....Kiran Duncan

Basford United under 15s drew 2-2 at Newcastle Town Juniors in the Midland Junior Premier League
A visit to Stoke was the order of the day to face Newcastle Town Juniors, preparations started on Tuesday with a very positive and demanding training session.
The team started strong and showed they had come to play football with crisp and accurate passing and retaining the ball and creating the early chances, indeed on another day we could have been 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes however a combination of determined goalkeeping and poor finishing meant the side kept knocking on the door but just could not get through. This was the pattern of the early game but then from our own attacking throw in position high up the pitch we found ourselves chasing the heels of a fast and determined counter attack and 1-0 down.
The pattern of the match however did change at this point as Newcastle were growing into the match and were competing and were getting the upper hand on many individual battles over the field and so the earlier control of the match had slipped a little and short time after we went down to a well struck second goal and so after the early promise the team found themselves 2-0 down.
A few minutes before half time and injury brought about changes and so an opportunity for Charlie to make his debut and to change the flow of the game. Basford then had a chance to get one back as Jezza found himself running onto goal but before he could shoot he was brought down – penalty… Jezza stood up and placed the penalty to the keepers left but he pulled off a great save to keep the score 0-2 to Newcastle Town - half time.
Second half and after words of encouragement and to up the tempo a much improved team came out, winning the ball and denying space all over the pitch, in control of the ball and making lots of half chances but it needed a mistake from a corner as the Newcastle keeper mistimed his catch and so presented the ball to Niall to head in from the line 1-2 and so the comeback was on..
Basford were now the team looking most likely to score… then in short succession we were awarded 3 freekicks in the same vicinity of the pitch, the previous 2 had created half chances but had been well defended however the third a little further out and up steps Leyton, he fired a very high and looping ball towards the back post for the “big lads” to attack – however they were not needed as the ball landed into the net to make it 2-2. Great freekick…
The last five minutes of the match saw chances for both teams to take the win and so without a great save from our keeper Taylor who was also making his debut the match could easily have been lost the match but that would have been tough to take as the team had worked so hard to get back into the match that a 2-2 result felt like a victory.
Basford United Community Magpies U13s won a high scoring game 15 - 4 against West Bridgford Community Youth Falcons U13s
Magpies U13s came away with another victory, to make it 7 wins out of 7. After a positive first half with 11 goals scored the Magpies remained in control throughout the whole game.
Once again outstanding performances from centre back Denell Morris and left back Tyeese Richardson who were both instrumental in the win. Ricky Clark continued on his path to dominance as striker in the league scoring 5 goals and putting him on 17 goals out of 7 games.
Basford U9s lost 2-0 against Carlton Pumas.
In what was a close game Basford should have come out winners but nothing wanted togo in for the lads with Joseph Rowlett-Franks hitting the bar twice and the ref making some poor decisions didn't help but the lads battled and Rowlett-Franks was named Man of the Match.
