United’s Community section record some notable victories

Match reporter10 Oct 2016 - 13:57

The Basford Community section would like to offer our support to Basford Utd 1st teamer Jake Sheridan on his bad injury this weekend.

On the field some great victories for our clubs,
Starting at senior level and our Notts senior league teams two good wins;

Basford Community 1sts 2 – 0 Cotgrave
Bilsthorpe 1 – 3 Basford Community 2nds
In the 1sts victory 16 year old Kelvin Uhunmwangho was on the scoresheet with Ezra Kitungano who sealed a comfortable victory over Cotgrave that lifts Community 1sts up to 3rd place in the NSL senior division.
Community 2nds had a tough looking visit to Bilsthorpe 2nds in the NSL Division 2. Despite trailing 0-1, a hat trick from new signing Gideon Boateng sealed a great victory for a young Community 2nds outfit who remain 100% in the league with 4 wins out of 4. Impressive performance from Joe Griffiths in this one who gave a good display at Centre half next too Travis Hansen.
The Community 1sts are back in action likely Fri night on the 3G against Magdala FC in the NSL senior division 7.30pm. Admission £2 & £1
Onto probably the performance of the weekend by the Community section as the U15s always looked likely to have a tough game against crack side Nottingham City, who have seemed to have our number in recent campaigns. In a close but highly entertaining game on the 3G the prospects looked bad for Rich McGovern’s team, as despite playing really well they trailed 0-2 late in the 1st half. A penalty late in the half by Samuel Burrows gave the team a lifeline. Community gave a fine performance second period to net 3 times through Samuel Burrows, Richard Wynder & Jaquarn Cambell-Ghislanzoni to clinch a fabulous victory and spark very happy scenes post game. Credit also to Nottm City 2 fine teams at this age group and every possibility in 3 or 4 years quite a few of these lads from both teams may progress to the senior section of Basford Utd FC playing at a very good level. With Division 2 league leaders U16s Gold not playing our other 2 NYL sides lost with the Sat U15s going down 3-4 away to Gotham Rangers, and the U16 Black losing 4-7 away to Collingham in NYL Sat division 1 .
In the YEL our teams at U13 & U12s were all involved in close games. A great game for the Sun U13s who played on the 3G Sun am and clinched an exciting last minute victory 4-3 over Ilkeston Juniors. A hat -trick from Ethan Beeley was decisive in this one with Jeremiah Donker netting the other.
In the U12s Sunday section division 1 Community Warriors recorded a close 2-1 win against Clipstone with Tegan Buckley & Charlie Bone netting. In the same division Community black came away from 2nd placed Radcliffe with a point in a 1-1 draw with Kyle Jack netting.
Congratulations to all our teams including the numerous junior teams below U12s who play in the Y.E.L. The Community section has many very good players that we hope will come through the Basford system in coming years progressing all the way to Basford United 1st team.
