United U15s moved a whopping 14 points clear at the top of the table and have clinched promotion in there 1st season in the Notts Youth League. 1 more win will give Phil Jarvis team the league title. Sat against old rivals Carlton United powered home via a hat trick from Kaine Edwards and additional goals from Mitchuall Cox and Michael Adomako. Playing on the Greenwich Avenue main pitch the lads produced a fine display.
Basford U21s immediately followed this game on the main pitch and went down 0-3 to a bigger and older Walsall Wood outfit. Given the needs of the 1st team Adam Beazley squad was hit hard with several players including top goal scorer 17 year old Harry Wakefield and Jerrel Pickbourne stepping up to the 1st team squad. With also a few injuries the lads continue a very good learning exercise. With a lot of the lads still teenagers then it is a big step up to play bigger U21 lads, but they continue to be competitive and learn there trade in men's football. With a Semi Final on the horizon exciting times for our Sat academy.
Sunday all attention turned to our talented Under 14s managed by Rich McGovern. In without question the big game in the U14 section against Real United Basford couldn't see out a half time 1-0 advantage and suffered a 1-2 reverse. Two cracking teams on show here and we have great expectations for not only this group but also our other junior and academy teams. Sun it was all about the finishing as Basford couldn't convert at the key moments in the game and Real United netted 2nd half efforts to win the game.
As always well done to our teams and coaches and keep up the education for these boys as we have some very talented lads within our ranks.
