In a close hard fought game it took two touches of absolute quality from flanker Aidan Brady to secure 3 very good points for United and bring the EMCL title very much closer to acheivement.
United gave one of the best performances in recent weeks after a few sluggish performances, but needed too against a physically strong Borrowash team who were never likely to roll over despite upheaval in recent weeks.
The returning Martin Carruthers was instrumental in Bradys opener on 31 mins as the flanker finished in style with a wonderful lofted effort over the Borrowash keeper. Just as it looked like a HT 1-0 and a mass exodus to the new clubhouse Brady again latched onto an exquisite throughball from the revitalised Cashel Walters to bend a beauty arround the visitors keeper.Despite excellent approach play the scoreboard was not tested any further, but the key to the evening was always going to be 3 precious points which were acheived.
United have been relentless in the pursuit of the title and in the last 21 games have only dropped 2 points winning 20.
Delighted to report a great opening night in the new clubhouse and it was well appreciated on a cold evening so all in all this capped a fine day for the club who now need 5 points from 4 games to seal the title.
Next up Bardon Hill away on Saturday.
