Under 21’s joint-manager Wayne Scott has heaped praise on his young side despite
suffering a first defeat of the season against a feisty Milton Keynes College yesterday.

Beye Barns Garner put the hosts in front before exiting prospect Jericho Bonner equalised
for us seconds later after James McKauise spilled a shot from range.

Cabou Wilkes then regained the lead two minutes before the break for the hosts who were
fortunate to end the game with eleven men after a two-team altercation midway through
the second half, but Scott has full focus on the positives.

“Me and Josh (Law) were absolutely delighted after today and we can take more from this
result and the performance than over our 3-1 victory last weekend. The mentality of our
players was far superior than the opposition today and we have got great foundations to
build from.” Scott said. “The boys are on a massive learning curve, but at times today, we have absolutely destroyed them on the park when passing the ball around.

“We said to the lads that the two goals were our own mistakes, rather than their ability to
open us up and we are really encouraged and excited and already looking forward to next
Saturday.”

After an impressive win in their first competitive fixture last week against Bedworth United
at Greenwich Avenue, our young guns travelled south in good spirits against a MK side who
went down 2-1 to AFC Rushden and Diamonds in their first outing.

In an otherwise uneventful second half, a small coming together between George Sharman
and home defender Ethan Dowse saw the two come together before a fracas ensued and
tempers flared which saw Dowse appear to lash out which went undeterred by the officials.

And despite feeling aggrieved that the home side did end the match in full capacity, Scott
has applauded how his youthful side dealt with the situation.

“Unfortunately, we are very restricted in what the officials do or don’t see and how they
decide to manage situations like that.

“At the end of the day, if someone squares up to you, or slams you into the floor as the
defender has done earlier, you have to react and protect yourself. The boys managed it and
handled themselves well and I have no issues surrounding our discipline.

“I’m just disappointed for the lads as they deserved something from the game.”

Our next U21 game as next Saturday (26 September) when we welcome Leicester Road U21
to Greenwich Avenue.
