Basford United Under 18’s were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup in a 4-0 defeat to Notts County Under ‘s at home.

Two first half goals from Notts skipper Charlie Wilde gave his side a 2-0 lead at the break.

Basford were much improved in the second half but ultimately fell further behind when Kieran Cummings got on the score sheet and Corey Bucalossi added a fourth six minutes from the end.

And the win was confirmed in added time when substitute Cameron Smith found the back of the net.

Basford fell behind inside the opening ten minutes when they failed to deal with a freekick and Wilde was there to turn it in at the back post. Notts had a chance to double their advantage just minutes later. Cummings was slotted in on goal but Dennell Stokes was off his line to save at the feet of the forward.

After Syme Mulvany fired wide of the post Notts had a second with little under 20 minutes left in the half. Wilde had a free run to get on the end of a corner and power the ball into the back of the net.

The home side had a chance when Jacob Taylor forced Tiernan Brooks into a good save before the ball was cleared off the line from the follow up but they were unable to find a goal back before the break.

Basford started the second half brightly. Jordan Lambert went on a good run before firing just over the bar and moments later Rio Joseph had an effort tipped over the bar. Charlie Wood then beat Brooks but his freekick was just over the bar.

Up the other end Tobias Rhule recovered to get back goal side and clear the ball off the line after Stokes came and missed it.

Notts added a third with 12 minutes left on the clock. Cummings was able to find space and slot the ball into the back of the net.

It was 4-0 in the 84th minute when Bucalossi found the back of the net when a set-piece was not dealt with.

The hosts continued to look for a late consolation but found themselves further behind as Smith added a fifth goal just before the final whistle.
