Our under 18s progressed In the FA Youth cup with a 3-0 penalties win over Mickleover, following a 1-1 draw.

We lead through Wayde Hines, fourth minute spot kick until the 95th minute when a penalty from Josh Satchwell sent the game to a shootout.

Gianni Musson was then the stand out man as he saved two kicks, after Mickleover hit the bar with their first. Hines was our fourth taker and fired home comfortably to give us the win after Sam Newell and Jordan Haywood had scored.

We started quickly and moved into the lead in just the fourth minute. Kiarnne Nyemba was fouled in the area and Hines stepped up to despatch the spot kick calmly. Just four minutes later we came under pressure but Haywood got the ball clear for a corner before several players pulled off some great blocks.

We controlled the next period of the game but the final pass was missing as Mickleover went closest to getting on the score sheet. Satchwell did well under pressure from Haywood to create space but his effort was wide of the post.

As the half ticked on we got back on the front foot and first a couple of saves from Tom Smith. First the Mickleover ‘keeper did well to deny Newell’s effort from range before Hines forced him into another stop on the stretch.

The next real chance before the break went to Jericho Bonner but the winger’s effort was blocked in a crowded penalty area as we went in at half time 1-0 to the good.

The second half saw its first real opening 10 minutes in. Hines went through on goal before being fouled. He then smashes the free-kick over the bar. Another free-kick saw Hines hit the target but his effort was well saved by the visiting ‘keeper, who denied the forward again a few moments later.

Bonner then had an effort saved before Musson came to our rescue. The ‘keeper did well to stay on his feet to save from point blank range as Mickleover began to pile on some pressure. A succession of corners was as good as it got for the away side until the 95th minute when they won a penalty that was converted by Satchwell.

There was no issues in the shootout that followed though. Newell stepped up to fire us ahead before Jordan Haywood doubled our advantage after Jacob Lucas had struck the bar. Musson then saved twice leaving Hines to score the winner.
