Team and management structure

Neil McGowan3 Jun 2016 - 07:01

Basford United are pleased to announce the teams, management and coaching structure for next season.

First team manager Martin Carruthers and coach Mark Clifford have been awarded one year contracts and will work closely with Adam Beazeley our new Director of Football.

Mark Clifford has been promoted from First team coach to Club Head Coach. The position of Assistant Manager has also been made redundant. Mark Clifford’s primary responsibility will be the First team, however, his position will also encompass supporting the development of high quality coaching right across the Football Club including mentoring of coaches in the senior and junior sections of the club.

Because of these changes in the First team structure it is with regret that last year’s Assistant Manager Mark Clarke has left the club. The club would like to put on record our sincere gratitude and thanks to Mark for the fabulous work and commitment he has shown to Basford United FC. He has been instrumental in the club’s successes which include winning the 2014-15 Midland Football League, 2014-15 Senior Cup and last season’s play-off position in the Evo-Stik NPL South and retention of the Senior Cup.

In keeping with the development of the club and introducing new player pathways, Basford United Community FC has been formed for 2016-17 and the new club will have two Senior Saturday teams competing in men’s football that will act as feeders for players to the First team.

Last season’s Under 21 team who competed in the Midland Football League U21 Northern Division and were Notts Junior Cup winners will become Basford United Community FC First team and compete more locally in the Notts Senior League. An additional senior team, Basford United Community FC Reserves will also be formed from the base of our existing Under 18s and will also be part of the Senior League.

The Basford United Community FC Under 18 team will again compete in the Notts Youth League Division 1 and will be focused on the close link with the Under 16s and Under18s on our Football Educational program. All three teams will provide excellent progression pathways for the players.

We are delighted to announce that Ray Walker, Chairman of the Basford United Community youth section, will double up as joint Basford United Community First team manager working alongside Pat Walsh who joins the club after a spell managing Beeston in the NSL.

The Basford United Community Reserves NSL team will be headed up by last seasons Under 18 management team of Chris Hudson and coaches Jack Kavanagh and Michael Gray.

Basford United Community Under 18s FC who will be the newly formed team playing in the Under 18 section of the Notts Youth League seek management and coaching applications for this key role.
Applications need to be made to info@basfordunitedfc.co.uk by the deadline of Friday 24th June.
