United dominated the game for the entire 90 minutes, limiting their opponents to just one shot on target, whilst continuing to play an excellent, fast passing game in wet, windy and muddy conditions.

Basford could have been at least three goals ahead before the break if efforts from Cory Grantham and Wiggins-Thomas had fallen better but Miekle’s second goal of the season just after the restart was quickly followed by Wiggins-Thomas’ eleventh of the campaign on 64 minutes.

Their second clean sheet in a row has helped move them up to fifth in the table, as they now await the visit of Newcastle Town to Greenwich Avenue on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
