Charlton fielded a number of players who will be in action against Sunderland on Saturday, whilst Martin Carruthers reverted to the policy of fielding two separate teams in each half, involving as many players as possible.
On a hot humid night, the game was played at a high tempo, with Liam Hearn and Nat Watson combining well at the centre of some flowing moves.
Fernando Bell-Toxtle and Courey Grantham also caught the eye as Basford matched their opponents.
Storey opened the scoring after 38 minutes, bundling the ball in at the second attempt.
There was a scare shortly after, Hearn and Watson both having to leave the field with injuries, which thankfully turned out to be not serious.
A much changed Basford side took the field for the second half but still the good football flowed.
Kole Lambert was twice denied by the Charlton keeper, but there was no stopping Harry Wakefield six minutes from time, cutting in from the left and hammering in a terrific shot which gave the keeper no chance.
Next up on Saturday is a trip to Brighouse Town (3.0).
