Former Scarborough, Matlock and Guiseley boss takes helm...

Basford United Football Club is delighted confirm the appointment of Steve Kittrick as first team manager.

Steve brings a wealth of experience of non-league management to the helm, spanning 25-years with the likes of Scarborough Athletic, AFC Telford, Matlock Town and Guiseley AFC, where he gained promotion to the National League North back in 2010 and reached the first round proper of the FA Cup in 2012.

A long list of achievements include promotions, runners-up, county cup wins, FA Trophy quarter-finalists and seven National League North Manager of the Month awards, between 2008-13.

Widely viewed as one of the most successful and charismatic non-league managers, known for his renowned man management and getting the best out of players, Steve was most recently manager of Belper Town.

Joining him at Greenwich Avenue is long-term assistant Luke Potter. The 35-year-old played professionally for Barnsley after making his professional debut in 2007, before retiring five years later through injury.

Alongside Kittrick, he went on to enjoy successful coaching roles at Matlock and Guiesley and currently holds a UEFA "A" Coaching Licence

Rounding off the newly appointed team is Sam Winch, who will be doubling up his role as Chairman of the club's ladies section.

A Youth Development Phase Coach at Nottingham Forest for three-and-a-half-years, Winch was the assistant manager at Grantham Town at the start of the season before his appointment to the boardroom earlier this year.

Whilst this will continue to remain Sam's prime focus, he has several key attributes and coaching skills – including leadership qualities – that will complement the first team under Kittrick and Potter.

On the appointments, owner Chris Munroe said: “I’m delighted to reach out to Steve, and he has accepted my invitation to become first team manager.

Steve has known my family and I for quite a few years now in a non-league football and he is charismatic and a highly respected manager. Steve’s experience and achievements speak volumes, and, without question, the passion runs deep – I see the potential for a really good fit here.

Whilst this is short-term appointment initially, I have various thoughts on a longer-term vision that, no doubt, I will be discussing internally in the coming weeks.

This absolutely excites me, and it should our fans, too, with what it can bring to get this club where I aspire for it to be."

The trio will oversee their first training session on Thursday night, before Saturday’s trip to Kings Langley in the Southern League.
