With the club like all levels of non-league unsure of when normality will resume, this does not detract the future-proofing of the club aimed at the medium-term future.
Therefore, the club and manager Steve Chettle are delighted to announce a raft of excellent young signings.
In addition to the re-signings of exciting fringe first-team players Rev James, James Carvell and Wyade Hines, Steve Chettle has clinched two excellent future signings this week to show Basford plan is to back it all ways.
The club can announce one signing now with the other one due for media release at a later date but signed and sealed on a 2-year Contract for an 18-year-old currently playing 1st team football at our level.
Today we are delighted to announce 19-year-old striker Niall Towle signs a two-year contract with a third-year option.
Signing from Long Eaton United FC, Niall registered an impressive haul of 30 goals in the MFL Premier last season which is no mean feat.
With scouts and clubs circling to land the prospect, we are delighted that Niall will be with Basford United FC. Our thanks too Long Eaton first team manager Ian Deakin, who has an excellent relationship with the club and manager Steve Chettle for allowing us this opportunity, as well as chairman Jim Fairley for the speedy way the deal was concluded. Basford have included a compensation deal for Niall both present and future.
The club also are excited to confirm contract deals have been signed and sealed for three of our excellent internal prospects.
20-year-old Rev James broke into the first team late last season and puts pen to paper on a two-year deal and the club has high hopes for the flanker.
22-year-old James Carvell as our fans will know is another great prospect and extends his deal for another season. James spent the latter part of the season out on loan to Belper Town but the club always intended to extend his deal with us as he also is one for the near future and a great talent.
Finally, 16-year-old striker Wayde Hines, who signed at the start of March 2020 and immediately was introduced to Steve Chettle 1st team squad, will also be a Basford player. Wayde, coming over from Eastwood CFC, has such intrigue for us as he is an extremely mature and powerful striker for his age, and the club and manager Steve Chettle sees much potential is all three youngsters.
Our thanks to Sports Connexions who represent these three lads for agreeing on deals.
With some excellent prospects entering year two from our football Educational Academy such as MacKenzie Rooney, Jacob Taylor, Bronte Wint & Richard Wynder to name but a few Steve Chettle and Basford United have a superb young platform for future seasons.
Passing comment on all these signings & the future prospects & direction Steve Chettle states "it was always within our plans to find and recruit exciting young talent for Basford United. We have been monitoring all of these players last season and we are now delighted to have them on board.
"During pre-season, they will all be integrated into the first-team squad for pre-season training sessions, and in the pre-season games schedule that we are finalising. Along with the new signings, we will have a new intake of scholars for our Educational programme and this is also something that we are very excited about.
"We have recruited from our Basford Under 16's teams, from other local clubs and we have taken players that have unfortunately not gained scholarships at professional clubs locally into our programme and hopefully, some of these new recruits will also train and play in the senior squad during the pre-season programme. The opportunities are there for the young players who have the right application and attitude”
