Striker back at the One Call Stadium following a loan...

Basford United can confirm that Josh Scott has returned to Mansfield Town following a youth loan spell.

The 20-year-old joined in August on a deal until December but following discussions with Stags officials, manager Steve Chettle says the striker needs more to be playing regular football.

“I spoke with Mansfield last week and both parties had agreed that Josh needs to be playing on a more frequent basis,” he said

“The decision was made to let him return to either play there, or potentially find another club elsewhere and gain the valuable experience he needs at the start of his professional career.

“He’s been a credit to himself and Mansfield Town and we wish him all the best on future endeavours.”

Scott made his debut against Witton Albion two days after arriving at Greenwich Avenue but has since been limited to eight substitute appearances in all competitions.

Scoring once, that wonderful overhead kick at Warrington - capping an unforgettable come-from-behind victory - will live long in the memory of United fans for a long time.

We would like to thank Josh for his services whilst at the club and wish him all the very best for the future.

Good luck, Scotty!
