Rudy’s career as a highly respected manager has seen him deliver numerous promotions at Rainworth Miners Welfare, Eastwood, Scarborough Athletic, AFC Mansfield and a range of other clubs. He has a vast knowledge of the Northern Premier Leagues and brings a wealth of experience to the club.

After lengthy discussions with owner Chris Munroe, the club sees this as a perfect time and opportunity for Rudy to assume the most senior role, provide the perfect mentorship and support for the new incoming management team and spearhead the next phase of Basford United Football Club.

On appointing his successor, Munroe said: “Rudy is someone I have admired for a long time now and is the most credible and experienced individual I could ever wish for to lead us into the next stage and I feel very happy to give Rudy the keys to Basford United.

“Rudy commands respect wherever he goes, his professionalism is top drawer and, as a people person his fit with Basford United could be tremendous.

“He will be given free rein to spearhead the football side of things, and also add a considerable input commercially and add to our current internal operations and I’d like to welcome Rudy on board.”

Rudy will be introduced to fans travelling to Hyde United on Saturday and makes the following statement:

“I am incredibly delighted and honoured to have been asked to fulfil the role as Chairman of Basford United. I am no stranger to the club as I have watched how Chris has built Basford over the last 16 years - he has done a fantastic job on and off the pitch.

"I have so much admiration for what he has achieved, and I hope that I can continue to follow in his footsteps. We have known each other over the last 20 years, and we have always treated each other with so much respect, so this has made my decision to accept the position with much ease.

“I am very much looking forward to working with everyone within the club and cannot wait to see what the future brings”.
