ROUND UP: Grassroots

Marc Williams11 Oct 2021 - 08:17

Here is how a select number of our teams got on this weekend...

Our Under 16s - coached by Maz Vipond - secured another cracking results in the MJPL on Saturday as they ran out 9-0 winners away at Berkswich.

Elijah Samuels and Jonny Gilbert both scored hat-tricks whilst Marcel Forde, Thomas Herverin and Zwe Moyo each bagged to seal a comprehensive victory in Staffordshire.

That's four in four for our U16s now and Forde was credited with the man of the match award after a fine individual showing.

United Tigers - under 15s - won 7-2 at East Leake. After a very even start, going in at half-time drawing 1-1, "we came out second half and started playing football the we can", according to coach Dwight Bent.

Leo Almond scored a hat-trick, whilst Cameron Sims, Clivani Mackenzie, Daniel Ridders and Brian Deptula all got on the score sheet.

Elsewhere, David Boafo's U18 and U17 sides had yet more comprehensive wins under their belt as they both continue to impress.

Firstly, a 6-2 win away at Warwickshire for our U18s saw Lynden Joyce, Cashmere Rowe, Cole Neil, Toby Francis, Charlton Rooke and Dhiren Brandy all score, also in the MJPL.

Whilst our U17s, away at Long Bennington, won 10-1 as Tyrese Hawkins lead the way with another hat-trick.

Dhiren Brandy and Mutawakel Issa bagged two each and Oskar Deptula, Tyler Dacres and Ewan Baines - arguably with the best of the bunch with a stunning free-kick - wrapped up the win.

Our Youth Cup run continues on Wednesday, October 13 as we entertain Halesowen Town in the Third Qualifying Round at Greenwich Avenue.
