United continued their pre-season with a 0-0 draw against Shepshed Dynamo at Dovecoat Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The first half was a real mixed bag, with neither team managing to take control of the match and chances were split fairly evenly.
United’s best chance of the half came from a free kick on the edge of the area, with skipper Matthew Thornhill’s effort beaten away from goal by the Dynamo goalkeeper.
And that was about as good as it got for either side as the first period drew to an uneventful close.
While the second half saw plenty of changes in terms of personnel, the story on the pitch was pretty much the same.
The Ambers dominated large spells of possession but couldn’t quite create any clearcut chances. A number of United academy graduates got vital gametime throughout the contest, with Tyler Dacres, Harvey Ridgeley and Daniel Morledge all ending the tie.
And it was Dacres who had Basford’s best chance of the second half, with the forward taking aim from inside the home side’s area, but it was acrobatically kept out by the Dynamo's number one.
United are back in action at Greenwich Avenue on Wednesday night when they take on Barnsley u23s (7.45pm).
