PREVIEW: Hyde United

PREVIEW: Hyde United

Marc Williams14 Oct 2021 - 17:43

Prepared for the visit of the Tigers...

Hyde United are the latest visitors to Greenwich Avenue on Saturday in round 15 of Northern Premier League fixtures as Basford look for a swift return to winning ways, following an indifferent recent spell.

LAST TIME OUT:
Despite an excellent win at South Shields the week previous, Steve Chettle’s men were put to the sword against Buxton on Tuesday night as Jamie Ward scored twice in a 3-1 reverse.

Josh Granite sealed the win for the Bucks, despite Brad Gascoigne’s 2nd minute opener.

Hyde make the trip from Cheshire in horrid form and haven’t won since their 1-0 win over Stafford Rangers a month ago.

They’re on a run of three straight defeats and have only picked up a single point out of a possible 15.

Ciaran Summers’ strike may have earnt another point against Radcliffe most recently after Bobby Grant’s 6th minute opener, but Adam Dawson and Kole Hall sealed the win for the Greater Manchester side.

They are currently managed by former Stockport County manager Jim Gannon after his shock appointment in August.

HYDE FORM:
Sat, 25 Sep. (A) vs Whitby Town – 1-0 (L)
Sat, 28 Sep. (H) vs Morpeth Town – 2-2 (D)
Tue, 05 Oct. (A) vs Witton Albion – 4-2 (L)
Sat, 09 Oct. (H) vs Lancaster City – 1-0 (L)
Tue, 12 Oct. (H) vs Radcliffe – 3-1 (L)

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS:
21/12/19: BAS 1-4 HYD
03/10/20: BAS P-P HYD
08/05/21: HYD P-P BAS

INJURY AND TEAM NEWS:
United will be without Terry Hawkridge who continues his recovery following an ankle injury sustained in the win at South Shields.

The 31-year-old innocuously clashed with Shields’ captain Blair Adams and was stretchered off, however the injury isn’t as bad as first feared and the midfielder was able to travel back with the squad albeit on crutches.

Reco Fyfe is expected to keep his place in the side, and Owen Betts – booked on Tuesday before being withdrawn – may keep his place at right-back, in lieu of Dom Roma who played more advanced in the week.

Callum Chettle and Ollie Clarke continue their long-term spell on the physio’s table.
