Owners Statement

Chris Munroe2 Jan - 11:47

Basford Owner deeply apologises for any distress cause to Basford Fans and followers and makes the following statement.

Chris Munroe, owner of Basford United FC Limited, has issued the following statement:

“Following last evening’s events, which were communicated in a manner that reflected significant frustration but were not appropriate, I want to today, assure our fans and supporters that our commitment to the club remains unwavering. Over the past 19 years, we have built something special at BUFC, and will not allow that to be put in jeopardy.

For the remainder of the 2024/25 season, I have no intention of reducing budgets. I will be providing strong support to Luke and Saul, and, like all of you, I am hoping for quick improvements.

Our goal is very clear and concise : to stay up in the league and reclaim the Notts Senior Cup.

Importantly during this challenging period, we ask our fans to rally around the team, especially as it is a young team navigating a tough time.

Looking ahead to the 2025/26 season, I personally plan to step back from the operational aspects of the BUFC first team as part of my long-planned retirement. This transition will be done in an orderly and structured manner. Over the next 15 months, we will develop a plan that ensures not only the stability of the first team but also the continued success of the Greenwich Avenue facility.

As majority shareholders, we the Munroe Family will also ensure that the club’s financial commitments, subject to agreed levels, are addressed, and that the necessary senior positions within the club are filled.

We deeply regret any undue distress caused by last evening’s communication and thank you for your ongoing support.”
