We are happy to confirm the signing of Tom Angell, most recently of Sheffield United.
The 19-year-old left full-back has impressed throughout pre-season and started the last three friendly wins over Frickley, North Ferriby and Chesterfield.
Angell progressed through the ranks at United, eventually signing a two-year scholar and featured heavily for the U18 side. He went on to make his U23 debut against Cardiff City last season.
During his time at Bramall Lane, he spent valuable time on loan in the National League North with both Bradford (Park Avenue) and Spennymoor Town before his release.
After the Ferriby win, assistant manager Luke Potter hinted at Angell’s imminent arrival and is thrilled the deal is finally over the line.
He said: “Tom has done really well in the last few games, and you can tell he’s played at a higher level with that touch of class and the sharpness he has.
“He’s not the tallest defender you’ll see but he’s strong as an ox and is deceptively good in the air. After speaking with those at Sheffield United, they had high hopes for him when he came through but, for one reason or another, it didn’t quite work out up there.
“With the ability to go forward as well as he can defend, we’re delighted to have him on board. He’s still young but can benefit from those alongside him and it really will be exciting to see him progress.”
