NEW SIGNING: Seth Patrick

NEW SIGNING: Seth Patrick

Marc Williams12 Sep 2022 - 14:56

Central Midfielder arrives from Scotland...

Basford United officials are delighted to capture the signature of 22-year-old Seth Patrick, most recently of Brechin City.

The talented 6ft 2 midfielder leaves his professional contract at the Scottish Highland Football League side following a personal desire to be closer to his Northampton home.

He had been instrumental in their unbeaten start to the season – which sees them top after seven straight wins – and made a total 23 appearances during his time at Glebe Park, scoring once.

Seth has twice been capped by Zimbabwe U-23s, in back-to-back fixtures against Mozambique in 2019.

Similar to fellow midfield sensation Ben Starkie, Seth's career took him to Germany after a release from Northampton Town.

Spells at Schwanheim, VfB Lübeck and Phönix Lübeck over two-years all proceeded a move back to England when he joined St. Ives Town last year.

After moving north of the border in January, he made his debut shortly after against Fort William and netted his solo strike in a 3-1 win over Deveronvale in August.

With Starkie attracting significant EFL attention recently, manager Mark Clifford has moved at pace to add real quality in Seth, to team the promising three-month loan signing of Luther Munakandafa from Notts County.

Clifford said: “Seth is another really exciting signing to add to an already strong and evolving group of players.

“He will add further competition to a midfield area packed with quality and I’m really excited to see him play and develop as a United player.”

Owner Chris Munroe added: "Our transfer/loan business remains highly focused and targeted around exceptional young quality and the right personal qualities, mixed with a high level of experience.

“Cliffy, Frecks and Scotty are building an exceptionally talented and harmonious squad that are improving with each game and shows the club is moving in the right direction.

“I would also like to thank Seth’s representative, Luther senior, for the professional way this signing has been carried out.”

Welcome to Greenwich Avenue, Seth!
