We're delighted to announce the signing of Matty Bowman after his recent departure from Loughborough University Students, fending off interest from several National League clubs.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder scored 14 times in 58 appearances during his time with Loughborough - where he also studied - and played for both Middlesborough and Hull City as a youngster.
He left the latter of his own accord to further his education, and later played under current boss Steve Kittrick during their time together at Scarborough Athletic before turning professional when he signed a two-year deal at Scottish Championship Dunfermline back in 2019.
Bowman made his senior debut for the Scottish Championship side a year later but departed East End Park by mutual consent a few months later to seek a fresh start.
Of the move, Kittrick said: "Matty played under me during our time at Scarborough together as a very young kid, making his debut as a teenager.
"He's come on leaps and bounds since then - as we knew he would do - and went on to sign professionally in Scotland at Dunfermline.
[i]We're all very much looking forward to rekindling the relationship we had at Scarborough and I'm sure we'll all see what he's capable of - we're delighted to have captured his signature."
Chairman Chris Munroe added: "A big well done to Steve and his team on pulling this signing off and I'd like to welcome to Matty to Basford.
"Squad wise, that's it now - we have a well balanced squad of high quality and who are capable of having a great season back in the Northern Premier League."
