Exciting forward arrives on 18-month deal...

We are delighted to confirm the prized signing of Kevin Da Silva Bastos from Loughborough Dynamo for an undisclosed fee and agreed sell on clauses.

Arguably the most sought-after step 4 striker in the East Midlands, the 22-year-old arrives at Greenwich Avenue on an 18-month contract, having scored 14 times in 20 league appearances this season in a highly competitive Northern Premier League, Division One (Midland) league.

Kevin started his playing career at Nottingham Forest before spells at Ilkeston Town - under manager Mark Clifford – and Tamworth, before joining Dynamo, where he has enjoyed a standout period with goals and assists aplenty and we are thrilled he chose United over a host of other step 3 clubs in pursuit.

On his arrival, Kevin said: “I feel really excited to be joining such a great club with lots of history behind it and I hope I can create more during the time I’m here.

Having played in a very good footballing side at Loughborough, with some great memories, I now look forward to joining up with Basford, also renowned for being a good attacking football side.

I do have the ambition to play in the National League and hope to do this with Basford, who have stated this is their aim in the near future.

I know the managers well, and also a few of the boys that play for the club, be that playing with them, against them or just personally off the pitch. Being so close to home, too, it was a no brainer for me.

With the ability to play up front or down the right-hand side, Bastos was identified by manager Mark Clifford some time back for his eye for goal and expressed his delight at finally signing him.

The boss added: “I’m really happy to finally get Kev over the line. We tried to get him in the summer, but he was already tied in to Loughborough.

He is somebody who I told the chairman I was interested in, and I wanted to thank him for making it happen.

Kev is a really attacking player and he will bring flair to the team and hopefully we’ll get plenty of goals and assists out of him.

I’m really excited about his signing and look forward to having him on board.

We would like to thank Loughborough chairmen Ian Beech and Darren Rodgers, as well as both secretaries Steve Butcher and our very own Jo Hawson, for the professional way this transfer has been handled and carried out.

With midfielder Ollie Clark currently out on loan at Dynamo, this will hopefully form the basis for more loan activity in the future.
