Richards (29) joined Basford back in May 2019 where he registered 17 goals in 34 games in the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic when United were well geared for promotion from step 3 positioned third with 8 games to go. Kane then went on to register another 8 goals/assists in the even shorter pandemic ending 2020/2021 season with again United placed second after 12 games and into the last 16 of the FA Trophy. The departure of Steve Chettle in 2022 scheduled the exit of Kane a few months later.

Since then, Richards has had a spell at Nuneaton Borough where he was influential in getting Borough to the Playoff final where they were defeated on penalties by Rushall Olympic.
