MATCH REPORT: Basford United under 19's vs Hallam Fc under 19's

WORKSOP VAN HIRE NORTH MIDLAND DEVELOPMENT FOOTBALL LEAGUE UNDER 19 DIVISION FRIDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2019 BASFORD UNITED 4 V 2 HALLAM

Simon Bryant's Basford United produced their most clinical performance of the season so far as they beat league leaders Hallam 4-2 on a blustery evening at Greenwich Avenue.

Goals from Jacob Taylor (2), Fletcher Parker and a stunning free kick from Jordan Lambert saw Basford inflict a first defeat of the season and move within two points of the visitors.

Basford were ahead after 20 minutes when a perfectly weighted pass from Lambert found new signing Zeb Kasujja who in turn provided an easy finish at the back post for Taylor.
Within five minutes, the hosts doubled their lead when a cross from Joe Balfe was met by Parker who stabbed the ball home.
On 40 minutes, Basford capitalised again after Darnell Allen-Forde intercepted a Hallam pass before feeding Taylor who rifled his shot into the roof of the net from 20 yards.

The second half saw Hallam come out with new impetus and within ten minutes they has restricted Basford to a one goal advantage.
With the score now at 3-2, brave defending from central pairing Latrell Patterson and Ferdinand Bartley, plus saves from 'keeper Zain Khan were required to keep Basford ahead.

With 15 minutes left to play, Brontae Wint was fouled just outside the Hallam penalty area as he looked to again increase United's lead.
Up stepped Man of the Match Jordan Lambert who's 25-yard strike found the top corner leaving Hallam's Ollie Barnes stranded to ensure Basford earned all three points.

"That result has been coming for a few weeks now", said manager Bryant.
"I think what is most pleasing is that it has come against a side that came here unbeaten, but taking nothing away from our players, they have worked incredibly hard tonight and got their just rewards.

"The first half performance was as good as I've seen since I've been here and despite them having a go after half time, we showed good character to go on and win the game".
"Darnell Allen-Forde, Fletcher Parker and Jordan Lambert were exceptional as were strikers Zeb Kasujjaand Jacob Taylor, I wouldn't like to be in a defensive unit that has to deal with those two.

"Ferdinand Bartley also deserves credit for his performance as we asked him to do a job along side Latrelland he has proved he can be a valuable asset as a makeshift defender".

Up next for our Under 19's is an away fixture at Sheffield FC on Thursday 21st November - 7.45pm Kick Off.
