Virgil Gomis had given Forest the lead before Niall Towle cancelled the effort out. But Gomis struck again before the break to give the Reds a slender advantage at the break.
The second half saw us on the front foot and Rev James struck a low effort to see the game end level.
The game started quickly as Forest burst into an early lead through Gomis’ low strike in just the fourth minute of the game. We then grew into proceedings with Ryan Wilson coming close after Matt Thornhill had an effort block.
Our efforts were then rewarded on 11 minutes as substitute Towle found space to fire into the roof of the net from close range. We then controlled proceedings but failed to take advantage and were soon behind again. A short corner was put into the box and bundled home from inside the six-yard box.
We had the perfect opportunity to draw level with 10 minutes left till the break. Thornhill skipped past a player in the area before being fouled but Towle’s effort from the spot was well saved.
Forest then went close before the break with a drilled effort that clipped the top of the cross bar as the sides went into the break with the score at 2-1.
After the break we started on the front foot as James Tague, who came on at the break, went close from range. His effort went just past the post, with the visiting ‘keeper routed to the spot. Stef Galinksi then went close as we continued to create the better chances. The central defender was up at the back post but could not squeeze his headed effort inside the post.
It was then the turn of Forest to come close. A good passing move gave them a sight of goal but the effort was wide of the mark. They were left ruing that miss as we quickly drew level. With 20 minutes left on the clock James cut back inside a defender and fired a powerful effort into the bottom corner.
We then looked to take the lead for the first time as Charlie Gatter flicked a header just wide of the post. James then went close as he guided a header over the bar. But it was too late as we could not find a late winner.
