We recorded back to back wins for the first time this season as beats Bamber Bridge 2-1.

Matt Thornhill opened the scoring with a great free-kick before a clearance was cannoned of Rev James and ended up in the bottom corner doubling our lead at the break.

The visitors did pull a goal back through Danny Forbes’ header but we held out for all three points.

After last weekend’s win, Steve Chettle opted to name an unchanged side.

We almost had the perfect start when Rev James went through on goal but his effort was saved by Willam Marment before Kane Richards had an effort blocked on the rebound. The resulting corner than saw us put the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for a foul.

Up the other end Mark Yeates went close for the visitors before we took the lead. Kane Richards was taken out by George Thomason and Thornhill stepped uo to curl the ball inside the near post and into the top corner.

We then had a second just minutes later. James chased down a loose ball and the clearance from Marment hit our forward and looped over the ‘keeper and into the back of net.

Bamber Bridge then had a good spell of pressure but our back line limited them to efforts from distance that were easily dealt with. Yeates had a tame free-kick held by Kieran Preston before the ‘keeper got low to calmly gather Callum King-Harmes’ effort.

A rare mix up in our back line almost gifted the visitors a way back into the contest as the ball dropped to Isaac Sinclair who had an empty net to aim at but Stef Galinski managed tio get back to deny him a certain goal. Straight up the other end we were denied a third as Richards’ headed effort was cleared off the line.

Right at the end of the half we had another chance to extend our advantage. The ball was worked well around the box and Kyle Dixon was picked out in the middle but his header was over the bar as we could not get a third before the break.

We started the second half on the front foot and could have had a third within five minutes of the restart. Kyle Dixon burst away down the right and his cross was guided just over the bar by the head of Niall Towle.

Danny Forbes then a great chance to cut out lead in half but he could not keep the ball down after some good work down the left by Yeates. The forward did halve the deficit just after the hour mark. He was picked out in the middle again from the left and he guided the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

That goal saw Bamber Bridge look to put on more pressure but our back line stood strong to the task and limited their opportunities. Their best chance of an equaliser came in the 92nd minute when Stef Galinski was there to clear the ball off the line as we held out for back to back wins.
