Earlier it was the Kieran Wells show as United’s recent marque signing netted hopefully his 1st of many a hat trick in a Basford shirt with 3 great finishes. United though will rue a host of great chances not converted including the crossbar and post both rattled, and several clear cut efforts either saved or marginally off target. With Basford unable to shake off a really impressive Bedworth outfit despite going into the last 15 with a 3-1 advantage, the visitors claimed an unlikely point via a fine header from Iyseden Christie on 77 minutes and a worldie of a free kick from Luke Rowe on 88 minutes.
After Ben Hutchinson had hit the post with a free kick, Kieran Wells struck a 25
yard screamer to give Basford a 31st minute lead. and 6 minutes later Wells was in the right spot as he planted home a fine header past the Bedworth Keeper from a very good Jamie Walker cross.
Dan Creaney pulled one back for Bedworth a minute from half time with a
shot from twelve yards that looked suspiciously offside.
2nd half As Basford pressed Deon Meikle hit the bar with a shot and Kieran Wells
completed his hat trick with a shot from close range on 67 minutes.
Former Mansfield player Iyesden Christie gave Bedworth hope on 77
minutes with a header beyond Saul Deeney, and Luke Rowe sealed the comeback as he curled home a free kick off the underside of the bar on 88.
As Basford pressed for a winner Wells was denied by a brave save from
Bedworth keeper Josh Barnes as the game ended level.
Tough to criticise Basford today as some superb football on show and whilst 3 goals scored should be enough to win a game it should have been more but was,nt, and credit to the visitors for a never say die attitude.
