An update of United results from the weekend...

BASFORD UNITED U14s BLACK (SUN) 2 – 0 SPONDON DYNAMOS GOLD U14 (SUN)

Brendan Brennan’s side became champions of the YEL Sunday Premier Division and secured back-to-back titles with a win over Spondon on Sunday.

With a title decider at Clay Cross on the line should they lose, United started well despite early nerves and controlled possession despite finding chances hard to come by.

United hit the bar after a quarter of an hour before, only six minutes later, went ahead through Quaide Jones, who found the right-hand corner after a cute assist from Noah Button.

The visitors offered very little, helped in turn by a stoic defensive performance which kept the two strikers – buoyed by a good reputation – very quiet all afternoon.

Much like the first half, Basford started the second well and created a fair number of chances before a corner led to a second.

A dangerous Jones corner put the ‘keeper under pressure and the ball fell kindly to Charlie Poxon who poked the ball home on the hour – it was the left back’s first goal of the season and one he’ll no doubt remember for a long time.

The game fizzled out and United’s excellent campaign was sealed with another Championship to their name, and they will look to end the season with a 100% record next weekend.

Congratulations to Brendan and his young crop of players on this achievement!

BINLEY WOODS U18s 2 – 4 BASFORD UNITED U18s

It was a tale of the four Cs in Coventry on Saturday as David Boafo’s group returned home with the 3 points as Charlie Fox, Cole Neil, Corey Bennett, and Charlton Rooke all scored.

4-0 up and cruising, United conceded two sloppy goals late on to make the scoreline a tad flattering, but it's a win for our exciting U18s group.

The result sees the side up to 7th in the table and above Hereford FC.

They look to maintain pressure on the top six with another win over Newcastle Town at Greenwich Avenue next weekend.

BASFORD UNITED U16s 1 – 1 MICKELOVER SPORTS U16s

Goalkeeper Anthony Nunez scored a last-gasp penalty as a battle with the top of the MPJL for Marek Vipond’s side ended in a 1-1 draw.

The visitors looked destined to extend their lead at the top to 7 points, but Nunez stepped up to calmy fire into the top corner after a handball against a Mickleover defender.

Whilst United remain 10 points behind their opponents, they do have 4 games in hand over most sides above them. They travel to Nuneaton Borough at the weekend.

ASPIRE FC U14s 1 – 2 BASFORD UNITED U14s

Daniel Vanderpuye scored twice as our Under 14s Saturday side came from behind to beat Aspire FC in a local derby.

Well done to all our teams collecting wins over the weekend!
