Checking in with selected United results from the weekend...

SATURDAY, JANUARY 22

WALSALL COMMUNITY TRUST U16 1 – 3 BASFORD UNITED YOUTH U16

A game of two halves in the West Midlands, Maz Vipond’s exciting group finally took the lead early in the second period after a lacklustre first 45 minutes.

Man of the match Elijah Samuels opened the scoring ten minutes after the restart, but Walsall replied minutes later.

Marcel Forde then regained United’s advantage with 20 minutes remaining before Samuels wrapped up confirmed their passage into the next round with another fine effort.

BASFORD UNITED U17 5 – 1 MICKLEOVER RBL U17

Tyler Dacres scored an impressive hat-trick as David Boafo’s U17 progressed in the MLPJ U18 Cup with a comfortable victory over Mickleover RBL at Greenwich Avenue.

Dacres – who appeared for the first team in pre-season at Nuneaton Borough - put United ahead at half with a decent finish from an angle before firing a penalty low into the bottom corner to double his tally early in the second half.

Mutawakel Eissa and Dhiren Brandy sealed the win with a couple of fine strikes late on as RBL could only muster a consolation.

BASFORD UNITED U21s P – P CLIFTON ALL WHITES U21s

SUNDAY, JANUARY 23:

BASFORD CFC U14 BLACK 6 – 3 ROBIN HOOD COLTS U14

Another win by 6 saw our Community U14 side hammer Robin Hood Colts on home turf.

The visitors struck three times through Mason Beastall and a brace from Braydan Harris Stone but could do little to prevent a home onslaught and Basford stay top on maximum points from two games.

BASFORD UNITED WARRIORS U18 0 – 0 BURTON JOYCE JUNIORS GREEN U18

Another of Boafo’s sides were in action on Sunday morning and, despite knocking on the door on several occasions, had to settle for a point against a stubborn Burton Joyce side.

The draw keeps them top, however, of the U18s Premier Division ahead of AFC Mansfield.

BASFORD UNITED VETS 0 – 4 PLOUGH AND HARROW (HUCKNALL) VETS

Aaron Potter scored a superb goal as Plough and Harrow (Hucknall) eased past the vets on Sunday. The result leaves Stan Mitchell’s side 6th in the table.
