Floodlights create feel good factor

Chris Munroe4 Nov 2011 - 22:05

Delighted to report Floodlights are up and ready for this weekends launch game.

Basford have arranged a real high profile encounter fitting to launch exciting times at the Greenwich Avenue ground. Nottingham Forest/County Legends will provide quality opposition on Sunday 3pm ko to make the official switch on.
With the lights tested on Thursday evening one cannot fail to be impressed with the standard of lighting which looks absolutely 1st class, and allow further progression with promotion and entry next season into the FA Vase. With the last week significant further enhancements undertaken such as hard standing completed and now surrounding the main pitch in its entirety, as well as a base laid for a new 250 seat stand proposed behind the top goal then the developments off the pitch are matching those on it.
Sundays game brings to Greenwich Avenue some of those great Forest/County players from yester year including two European cup winners from the Reds contingent. Mark Norm Crossley will captain the side that includes the likes of Forest players Bryn Gunn,Gary Mills,Chris Doig,Craig Armstrong,Jason Lee, David Johnson, John Burns & Justin Walker. From Notts County good representation also Addie Thorpe, Michael Johnson, Dave Norton,Mick Galloway, Lawrie Dutfield, Mark Draper could play but is carrying an injury as is Des Lyttle. Other Nottingham born professionals on show, Shane Nicholson, Chris Freestone and Martin Carruthers complete a strong squad. The lights will be switched on by Kenny Burns.
Basford will field two teams with the current 1sts playing the 1st half and then the 2nd period will be all about past Basford players having a runout.
The post game entertainment is absolute quality with Mark Crossley now joined by Kenny Burns in doing s speaker session at the Headstocks, this will be followed by a set from The Establishment who include John Burns and the entertainment will continue long into the evening.
