United are thrilled to welcome central midfielder Sean Devlin to Greenwich Avenue.
19-year-old Devlin - son of former Birmingham City, Sheffield United and Scotland midfielder Paul - signs after a short trial period.
Currently studying Economics at Nottingham Trent University, he started his career at the Blues’ academy where he spent five years before, most recently, joining Sutton Coldfield Town.
On the move, he said: “I’m delighted to be joining Basford United after training with them the last few weeks.
“All the players and staff have been extremely welcoming since I’ve arrived, and I’m equally impressed with the standard here.
“The training has been great – it’s an area I’ve always enjoyed – and I can’t wait to get started now.”
Boss Steve Chettle added: “Sean’s been training with us for about a month now we’ve been impressed with him.
“He offers energy, pace, directness and trickery and it’s great to have him with us.
“I know his dad very well and he’s a lot like him,” Chettle added with a jovial quip.
“I’ve played against Paul many times and Sean is similar in many ways, which can only be a bonus for this football club.”
Devlin will link up with recent recruit Mitchell Tait and the rest of the squad for today's trip to Lancaster City.
