Head of Media to leave Greenwich Avenue for new role...

Marc Williams will stand down from his role as Head of Media in February after three-and-a-half years with the club to take up a full-time position with the League Managers Association (LMA) at St. George’s Park.

A senior member of the committee and responsible for all club media content since 2021 – initially joining a year prior – Marc has overseen a huge transition of our online and social output, vastly improving our brand image off the pitch.

His last fixture will be the home game with Hyde United on Saturday, February 10, and everyone at Basford United Football Club wishes Marc all the very best in his new job and thanks him for his time, effort and dedication to the role.

Marc said: “Whilst I am very excited for what the future holds with the LMA, I am extremely sad to be leaving Basford United.

Not only will I be leaving behind a role I thoroughly enjoy and love, but a family, too. From top to bottom – bar to boardroom – we all get on extremely well and pull in the same direction to get this club where it deserves to be.

Being completely truthful, I didn’t think I would still be here nearly four years later when I first walked through the gates back in 2020, but that is a testament to how much I’ve loved my time here at Greenwich Avenue – I’ll miss it – and everyone – dearly.

I’d like to thank every single colleague I’ve worked alongside, as well as the fantastic players, managers, coaches and backroom staff - both past and present - who have all added to the joy.

Lastly, I’d like to say a massive thank you to you, the fantastic fans, followers and readers.

Without you, none of this would have been possible and I’m grateful to each and every person who has clicked, liked, shared, and interacted with our content over the years. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have producing it.

My partner Nicola and I will still be down as much as we can to watch as fans, beside some wonderful people who we can both now call friends. Up the Ambers!”

The club will make a statement in due course regarding the future of the media team, but Marc goes with our best wishes and we hope he and Nicola both stay in touch.
