The win lifted Basford to sixth place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South and Carruthers was delighted with the result, saying:

"It was an outstanding display and result against a very good side on a difficult surface. Before the game we would been satisfied with a point, so to come away with all three is great.

"It was a real gritty performance and I can't praise the players enough for the way they applied themselves to the task. We had a setback before the start when Billy Bennett broke down in the warm-up but everyone just took this in their stride.

"To come back twice from going behind and then going on to win shows the character and determination amongst this group of players.

"Obviously Ruben Wiggins-Thomas gets the headlines with his hat trick and I am delighted for him but Ruben would be the first to agree that this was very much a team effort, with everyone playing their part in the success."
