Commenting on the decision to re-sign Gascoigne, first team manager Steve Chettle said: “I’m delighted to have Brad return to Basford United as he was a massive part of the successes during last season’s campaign contributing towards our finishing position before the sudden end of the season.

"He will add strength to our defensive unit coming off the back of three fantastic goals and a clean sheet up at Radcliffe.

"He will join us on Tuesday for training and will put himself up for selection for this weekend’s fixture, when we return home to Greenwich Avenue to play Bamber Bridge this Saturday in only our second home game of the campaign."

With injuries to new signings Marcus Marshall and James Clifton and Owen Betts’ illness, along with Kane Richards missing all of pre-season and also the first few games of the Pitching In Northern Premier League campaign, It’s been a challenging start to the season for us. But with Marshall, Richards and Betts recently returning to the squad and the addition of Gascoigne, it’s an exciting time for the club, which sees us currently sitting in joint fourth place.
