Basford United are delighted to make the following announcement;

A year of continued excellent progress for the Football Academy Section of Basford United FC.

In Sept 2019 our Football Educational Program had a very good intake of new Full Time Scholars for the 2019-20 academic year to coincide with the appointment of 1st team manager Steve Chettle and Head of Youth Phase Simon Bryant. Off the back of this the Academy is very well positioned to continue this improvement for the new recruiting year 2020/21, in addition to a very good group of current first years moving to Second year scholars.

The club have run three excellent U16s groups this season and all have shown up very well in their respective leagues, two in the MJPL and one in the NYL. The basis of these teams forms a strong foundation for recruitment to our Football Educational Program.

The clubs hierarchy feels it is crucial the structure of the Academy meets the overall objectives of the club, so we are delighted to announce the following structure for 2020/21;

The club will be running a Saturday U21s Academy group in the Midland Football League.

The club will be running two U18s teams in the Sat MJPL U18s Division.

The club will be running one U18s team in the Sunday section of the NYL.

The club will continue to run the exact same structure U16 and through our U13-U16 Youth phase.

The club are actively seeking external partnerships to enhance our football offerings for our Scholars to bridge the gap to first team.

The Educational Football Educational program for 2020/21 will continue to go from strength to strength and will continue to run a minimum of three groups in the National League, FA Youth Cup, SCL Leagues and AOC leagues.

Our 1st team manager and Head of Football Steve Chettle is very keen to take a more hands on mentoring coaching role to ensure the maximised development of an exciting group of Year 1 and Year 2 Scholars. Steve and Simon also continue to build up impressive external links for both 1st team and Academy.

The Educational Academy have their next round of trials on Monday 17th Feb 2020, 10.30am-1.30pm and will also be running a Parents and player Open Evening in February.

We are delighted to announce a five year Sponsorship deal with Liberal Sports which means all 1st and 2nd year scholars will receive £175 of high quality premium bespoke Basford United Football Club Training Wear for each year on the Program.

In Addition to running a superb training facility, our Educational environment is superb with a 300mb bespoke internet link and a modern IT environment, comfortable classrooms and breakout areas for Scholars and staff.

The Educational standards we insist on are very high and the club remains very satisfied with our current Educational Provider SCL.

The club have never ventured away from providing excellent pathways for Scholars, whether this be in progression to the Professional game, a career at Basford United as a Semi Pro Footballer, undertaking a scholarship in the USA, or most importantly, opening up career and personal development opportunities in the local Community.

Any Prospective Scholars external to the Football Club are more than welcome to apply for our next round of Trials. Email jessmunroe@basfordunitedfc.com or via our website www.basfordunited.co.uk

Attendance is strictly by confirmation only.
