Under strict instruction to build up minutes slowly Rob comfortably negotiated 45 minutes in the CFC 1st teams 3-2 victory of AFC Dunkirk. On the recuperation from a season ending knee ligament injury in Sept 16 then this is fantastic news for the club. We wish Rob all the best as he builds up minutes and no doubt sooner or later he will become a feature again in our 1st team.
With last seasons other long term injury Rob Duffy well into his return from his season ending Achilles injury last season, registering 20 minutes on Sat before unfortunately being dismissed via a typical strikers attempt to win a challenge, then these 2 will be like new signings when fully conditioned to 1st team football. Likewise Jake Sheridan after an horrendous time after his severe leg break last season in Oct 16 has also stepped up the pace and now has moved onto ball work and intensive leg strengthening and running.
We wish all these lads a full recovery.
Back to Sats Community game a good 3 points is how Michael Leslie viewed the game. Another 1st team potential striker Gideon Boateng made his debut for the season and set up Hot youngster Anthony Graham who has been a goal scoring machine of late to net. With AFC Dunkirk drawing level with a glancing header past Danny Brown it needed striker Anthony Bedward to net for 2-1 however he was lost threw injury with a clash of heads netting the goal. Anthony Graham looked to have set up Ezra Kitungano for the winner and 3-1. AFC Dunkirk had other ideas netting directly from a corner for 3-2 but Community held out for 3 points .
Community will be the prelude to the Basford United 1st teams big weekend as they travel to Calverton MW FC on Friday night 7.30pm ko for their latest NSL game.
