A ruthless 1st half in which United turned round 3-0 to the good via 2 goals from Kieran Fenton and 1 for Liam Hearn paved the way for the celebrations to begin.
Second half goals from Fernando Bell-Toxtle and Rob Duffy completed the win and began what is expected to be a great weekend of celebrations. 16 year old Youngster Colin Lewis capped the great day with a fine penalty save to preserve his 1st clean sheet in a United Senior Jersey.
Basford will be presented with the League Championship trophy on Saturday as Play-off contenders Lincoln United visit Greenwich Avenue (3.0). The players will also be presented with the league trophy and medals.
So a culmination of a dream for United Chairman Chris Munroe who set progression to the Evo-Stik Premier Division back as a eight year objective in the 2012/13 season, in just five seasons is a brilliant achievement.
With the club earning five promotions in seven years from 2010 this has been an unbelievable periodf of progress. From park football to now one division off the Vanarama National League North at our Greenwich Avenue ground then it has been a formidable transformation both on and off the pitch.
Whilst the National League North might sound close the club and Chairman are under no illusion how difficult the next level will prove to be to firstly consolidate and then assess, but either way the club feels well placed to continue this epic upward journey.
That though is for another day and this day and period now relates to celebration. United hope for a bumper Nottingham crowd this Saturday to share in the celebrations and recognise the achievements of a truly remarkable squad who have demonstrated an unbelievable level of consistency.
Basford as always have been very grateful to the growing support over the course of this season and we do hope you can share the special day tomorrow. You have all played such a massive part and earned it for your brilliant support over the season.
