Basford United is delighted to announce that academy trio Lui Bull (left), Lynden Joyce (centre) and Tyler Dacres have all put pen-to-paper on first team forms, in what is another feather in the club’s educational system cap.

The three scholars, all 17, have been key figures in the youth team throughout the last two years, and have impressed this season as they prepare to face Derby County in the first-round proper of the FA Youth Cup.

A natural forward, Bull has been with the education set-up since 2020 after failing to obtain a scholarship at Mansfield Town and has an enviable strike record.

He's found the net in each of his last four games, including the winner from the penalty spot against Notts County and the second in a 2-0 win over Lincoln United last time out.

Another forward in Dacres provided both assists in the Lincoln victory and set our Youth Cup campaign well on its way this time around with the first of three against Deeping Rangers in the extra preliminary round back last month.

He has already experienced senior football during his time at United, making an appearance in the pre-season draw at Nuneaton Borough last July.

Ambipedal Joyce can operate in various positions, notably down his favoured left side, and has started all four Youth Cup games this year. Yet to be involved with the senior set-up, he has regularly featured for David Boafo's U-18 side, as well as Andy Lord's U-23s.

All three may feature in some part in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup, second round tie at Hucknall Town on Wednesday night (7.45pm).

Also a potential call-up is third year scholar Lewis Rourke.

The striker - who is still part of the academy set-up at Greenwich Avenue - has been on loan at Heanor Town for a second stint this season and has scored seven times in all competitions.

The call-ups represent huge steps in the right direction for the club, and are three more names added to the list of those who have progressed through the academy to the seniors.
