Basford United Football Club are delighted to announce Gary Setchell as the clubs new First Team Manager.

Setch joins the Ambers after spending the last 8/9 months as Director of Football at National League North side Harborough Town. We would like to thank Harborough Town and Mitch Austin for allowing us the opportunity to speak to Gary Setchell.

Gary brings vast experience from across the non-league game both as a former professional player and as a manager and is highly respected leader in the dugout.

He went on to manage Kings Lynn Town for over 350 across 7 years along with securing two promotions in the process along with reaching the latter stages of the FA Trophy and FA Vase

More success followed at Bedford Town where he delivered a league title before moving to Corby Town where his side was always challenging at the top end of the table.

Setch will be joined in the dugout by long-term assistant manager Darren Edey along with Saturday’s interim management team of Lead Academy Coach Matt Carbon and injured Club Captain Henri Wilder. The team will also be re-enforced by a new GK Coach along with Wayne Miles ‘Milo’ as Kitman and Rico as physio making up an exciting team.

Setchell said the following;

“I’m delighted to be joining Basford, everything has moved pretty quickly. After meeting with Chris it became evident that his ambitions aligned with mine.

“It’s a big club with a great structure and a 1st team that was close to getting promoted last season. After a tough week or so for the club Matt, Henri and all the players did a great job on Saturday and I’m looking forward to getting started on Wednesday night in Rugby”
