Pair join from Barnsley on short-term deals...

We are delighted to announce the loan signings of Barnsley duo Josiah Dyer and Jean Claude Makiessi, who both arrive on short-term deals.

18-year-old striker Dyer, son of former professional Bruce, comes highly recommended from those at Oakwell and was a handful during our 2-1 pre-season win over the young Tykes last month, shortly before signing a professional contract that saw him join the U21s.

Prior to that, he was a key part of Barnsley’s title-winning U18 side, and made a first team debut back in October, coming on as a 78th-minute substitute in a 4-2 win at Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Trophy.

Further senior experience came in January when he moved to Broadhurst Park and FC United of Manchester on loan for a month, where he scored three times in six outings.

Like Dyer, defensive midfielder Makiessi, also 18, signed a professional deal in July and joined the U21 setup, having initially arrived the club as a 14-year-old.

He has been compared to Claude Makelele by Barnsley’s senior professional development coach, Nicky Eaden.

Dyer made his debut in Saturday’s defeat at Guiseley, whilst Makiessi was an unused substitute, but both will be in contention for tomorrow night's Northern Premier League clash with Stafford Rangers at Greenwich Avenue (7.45pm).

They join recent arrivals Jaz Goundry from Alfreton and another loan signing in Emmanuel Ilesanmi from Harrogate Town, both of whom made their first starts at the weekend.
