With new signing Darren Garmston quickly settling into the tempo of United football Gamo was instrumental on 30 minutes in creating the opening goal. Breaking clear right channel a precise cross picked out Cashel Walters to slam home a stunning volley from 15 yards for 1-0. On 35 min Carl Westcarr took advantage of a howler by home keeper Attwood to bundle home for 2-0.
Within 30 seconds of the restart Newark were given a major lift as Ricky Brewer let fly with a screamer from 25 yards and then it was backs to the wall stuff to maintain three crucial points against arguably the best team we have played this season.
