But he does admit his side could have been on the wrong end of the score line.
Basford played out a 1-1 draw with Scarborough with Nat Watson cancelling out James Walshaw’s strike. Both sides had clear chances to win the game but were unable to break the deadlock.
And the manager was happy to go home with a point.
“I’m respecting the point,” Said the boss. “We came with a point and we go home with a point.
“We came here to win the game and we tried to win the game. And at the end KP (Kieran Preston) has made a great save to keep us level.
“We could have come away with all three points. But I think they will be thinking the same.”
And after nearly a month away he is excited to be playing a home league match and believes home form will be important for his side.
“It’s nice to be going back home to play on our pitch,” He said. “Hopefully we can get the wins when we are at home that we need and we’ll keep nicking wins and points away from home when we can.”
And midfielder Callum Chettle echoed his managers views and believes a win in their next game, will have Basford reflecting even more positively on the draw with Boro.
“It’s a good point,” He said. “We probably made enough chances to win the game but then Kieran (Preston) has made a couple of good saves to keep us in it.
“We’ll move on to Saturday now and if we win that this will be an even better point.”
And after missing recent fixtures through injury he was happy to be back on the pitch.
He said, “I always miss football when I’m not playing. It was just nice to get back out on the pitch.
“Luckily enough I went straight back into the starting 11 and hopefully I’ve done enough to play again Saturday.”
