FC United of Manchester vs Basford United| 09/11/2019| Kick Off 3:00pm| FA Trophy

LAST TIME OUT

Basford United ran out comfortable 3-1 winners away to Atherton Collieries. Nat Watson opened the scoring after a good passing move. Midfielder James Reid arrowed in a second from the edge of the box and the win was confirmed when Kane Richards got on the score sheet. Jordan Cover pulled a goal back late on but it was no more than a consolation for the hosts.

FC United of Manchester played a 2-2 draw at home to Gainsborough Trinity, after going behind twice.
Trinity captain Gavin Allott and Ross Hannah scored either side of Jordan Buckley’s goal to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at half time. United then drew level in the 74th minute through Tunde Owolabi to earn a point.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

The two sides met in the league earlier in the season with Basford coming at 3-1 winners at Broadhurst Park. Owolabi gave FC United an early lead but Richards levelled to ensure the two sides went into the break on level terms. Stef Galinski’s stunning header from inside his own half put Basford ahead mid-way through the second half. Courey Grantham’s 91st minute strike made it 3-1 as Basford held onto a deserved lead.

THE BIG PICTURE

Basford will stretch their unbeaten run to eight games if they avoid defeat in this one. They will move one step closer to the FA Trophy first round proper, which they reached last season, with a win at Broadhurst Park.

FC United will stretch their unbeaten run to four games if they do not lose this game. The last team to beat them was in fact Basford. A win will also take them into the third qualifying round, which was the round they were knocked out in last season.
